Scorpius Dance Theatre presents “Match Girl”
October 19 at 7:30 p.m.; October 20 at 7:30 p.m.; October 21 at 2 & 7:30 p.m.
Kicking off their 2023/24 season, Scorpius Dance Theatre is premiering an original adaptation of “Match Girl.” Inspired by the haunting literary fairy tale, “The Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Anderson, Artistic Director Lisa Starry is presenting a contemporary take on this timeless, tragic tale. In “Match Girl”, a young, homeless woman sells matches on the street during a freezing winter. As she struggles to stay warm, she has visions of happier times that she shares with other homeless people, who end up only being in her imagination.
“Match Girl” is suited for teen/adult audiences only.
