“The Yellow River Cantata” with the Arizona Chinese Chorus & OTP Symphonic Orchestra; Yayu Khoe, Artistic Director/Conductor with soloists
A Celebration of Peace with Dances of the World: Chinese, Korean, East Indian, and Irish.
Lisa R. Chow and Step Raptis of Desert Dance Theatre perform as guest artists.
Music and dance extravaganza from east and west celebrating 70 years of peace. Excerpts from China’s first choral cantata [the Yellow River Cantata] written during the Sino-Japanese war period by Xian Xinhai. Special guest international Emmy awarded winning baritone Chailun Yueh, a descendant of Chinese famous ancient hero Yue Fei will sing “Ode to the Yellow River” and other famous beloved songs. Joining him will be soprano Yayu Khoe singing the Yellow River Lament. This marks Khoe’s 30th anniversary in appearance in the Yellow River Cantata performance since its first presentation in New York City’s Lincoln Center in 1985. Joining these two singers of excellence will be musicians from the Phoenix metro area, the Ode to Peace orchestra and the Arizona Chinese Chorus. Dancers from around the world namely China, Korea, India will join in performance. Special featured dancers from the Bracken Irish Dance School will also perform. Flag raising ceremony in the foyer begins at 2pm. Performance begins at 3pm. Special ticket master pre- sale begins on 8/3 promo code TMPRE. Ticket sales to the public begins 8/8/2015.
