Akshaybhasha presents “Celebrating Universal Tagore”

Ravindranath Tagore won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1913. A multicultural program highlighting the charm/magic/fact of being American, bringing artists from different communities together using the universal literature of Ravindranath Tagore! ‘Chitta jeth bhayashunyo’ …’ where the mind is without fear…’ an inspirational poem written by Tagore in early 1900s seems to be relevant in 21st century as well, making his literature not only universal but timeless! Knowing Tagore as a poet, playwright, philosopher, and storyteller means lightening your heart and enlightening your mind! Come to enjoy this unique presentation of art that proclaims beauty, joy and peace through dance-drama, a short play, a speech on Tagore’s literature, Ravindra Sangeet (music) and poetry through dance!  This program intends to put forth Tagore’s literature using international canvas. The participants bring their artistic heritage from different countries such as China, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Bangladesh and India.

One of the program selections “Lotus” will feature a short dance film collaboration, created by Lisa R. Chow (Dancer/Choreographer), Step Raptis (Music Composer), Elizabeth Nelson (Film Maker), and Yayu Khoe (Poetry Reader/Singer/Pianist).
