November 12th, 2024 | 4pm at Agave Library – The Five Moons – “The Five Moons” features five illustrious Native American ballet dancers, Maria Tallchief, Marjorie Tallchief, Moscelyne Larkin, Rosella Hightower, and Yvonne Chouteau. These five dancers bring their exceptional artistry and heritage to the stage, celebrating their cultural roots and pioneering contributions to ballet.
November 13th, 2024 | 4pm at Desert Broom Library – Changemakers: Dancers Who Led Diversity in Ballet – Embark on a journey to uncover the pioneering dancers who have championed diversity in the dance world as we know it today. Experience their remarkable performances through video excerpts and delve into the groundbreaking history of these extraordinary artists.

Learn about the dancers who paved the way for the astonishing legacy we know today. Lydia Abarca, Gayle McKinney-Griffith, Sheila Rohan, Marcia Sells, and Karlya Shelton, also known as the Swans of Harlem, have helped shape this groundbreaking ballet company. Renowned for its diverse repertoire and inclusive approach, Dance Theatre of Harlem is celebrated for blending classical ballet with African-American cultural influences.
