Ballet Arizona’s Studio Spotlight: All Balanchine (PHX)

Step inside the studio at Ballet Arizona’s intimate Dorrance Theatre and experience a behind the scenes look at their upcoming production All Balancine 2019. This one-hour gathering featuring Ib Andersen or members of the artistic staff and Ballet Arizona dancers includes time for a Q&A discussion. This is the closest you will ever be to the work without being on the stage!

All Balanchine will include three ballets by The Father of American Ballet, George Balanchine, including a work never before performed by Ballet Arizona:

Emeralds  A Ballet Arizona premiere, Emeralds evokes the elegance and romanticism of 19th century ballet.

Theme and Variations – This ballet, with its glorious choreography and glittering costumes, recalls the grandeur of classical ballet.

Square Dance – This lively ballet combines the spirit and verve of an American folk dance with the precision and techniques of classical ballet.

Ib Andersen is one of a handful of artists worldwide entrusted by the Balanchine Trust to stage these masterpieces. The performances will be May 2-5 at Symphony Hall. Tickets: Ballet Arizona Box Office 602-381-1096, Mon-Fri noon-5:30 pm, 2835 E Washington St, Phoenix.
