CDE Shakespeare at the Herberger
March 5-8, Thursday-Sunday, 7:30 pm, plus 2 pm Sunday.
Center Dance Ensemble presents Shakespeare at the Herberger featuring CDE Artistic Director Frances Smith Cohen’s The Fateful Loves of Hamlet and new dances inspired by The Tempest, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
A new short piece choreographed by Cohen from The Two Gentlemen of Verona will feature guest artist Andrew Needhammer, a former dancer with Ballet Arizona. Passion, inspired by The Tempest, a new piece choreographed by Diane McNeal Hunt, CDE’s resident choreographer. Two pieces will be presented by Scottsdale Community Colleges’ Instinct Dancecorps performed on alternating days: Skeletons, “Macbeth” (Thursday & Saturday), Oculus, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Friday & Sunday).
The Herberger Theater Center has partnered with several downtown Phoenix restaurants to offer a special dinner package or culinary experience for our theater patrons. Lunch Time Dance Theater – March 5-6 Thursday-Friday, 12:10 pm. $6 (additional fees when ordering online), CDE presents Shakespeare at the Herberger featuring Hamlet in a one-hour abridged performance. Lunch Time Dance Theater is presented by APS.
