$18 – $24Estrella Mountain Community College & Southwest Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker
December 12-15, Thursday-Sunday 7 pm, Sunday 2 pm
Estrella Mountain Community College in partnership with Southwest Ballet Theatre gear up for the 5th annual performance of The Nutcracker – a story of a young German girl who dreams of a nutcracker who battles a mouse king and breaks an ancient spell, transforming the nutcracker into a handsome prince. EMCC students Katelynn Brock and Sydney Walker have been cast in this year’s production. Through the partnership, EMCC waives all facilities fees for SWBT and the ballet company pays all personnel fees. EMCC students get free tickets and SWBT gives EMCC a percentage of its box office sales. In addition, SWBT offers EMCC performing arts students free master classes, and technical theater students get hands-on lessons. “We’re also thrilled to be able to offer a scholarship for EMCC performing arts majors,” Hahne said. We can’t wait to see what develops throughout the years to come.”
General admission tickets cost $24 ($32 for general admission plus flowers); $18 for students 18 and younger with ID; and free to EMCC students. Visit southwestballettheatre.org to purchase tickets.
Southwest Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” is supported in part by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, which receives support from the state of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts. Other support for “The Nutcracker” comes from Palm Valley Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Thanks to support from Empire Southwest and Dunn Orthodontics, Southwest Ballet Theatre has given 130 opening night tickets to children and adults through local West Valley charities. These attendees will also receive gift bags to commemorate this special community night event.
