Featuring LOVE duets from famous ballets, this experience makes the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day! You’ll see excerpts from the most popular ballets in the world including The Sleeping Beauty, Flames of Paris, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire and Esmeralda. In addition, dances will feature excerpts from contemporary pieces including choreography by award-winning American choreographer, Dwight Rhoden and world premieres by Rasta Thomas and Phoenix Ballet’s own resident choreographer Albert Blaise Cattafi (Cirque du Soleil, Bad Boys of Dance).
“After living in Arizona for over ten years, I have seen the dance community grow and blossom. To celebrate the beauty of this rising art form and my love for it, I have invited top names to come share the stage with local dancers for this special night,” said Slawomir Wozniak, Artistic Director of Phoenix Ballet. “We will celebrate life, dance, and just being human. I personally invite you to join us for this inaugural international celebration of dance and experience the first event of its kind in Arizona.”
In addition, Phoenix Ballet’s official school, Master Ballet Academy (MBA), will have a presence at the gala, as the students rival professional adults technically and artistically. MBA is one of the most recognized ballet schools in the country, recently voted #4 in the world by “A Ballet Education.” In 2017 MBA won both “Outstanding School” and “Outstanding Teacher” awards at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP). With students holding multiple medals, awards and honors internationally, watching them perform is an experience to be treasured.
