Pima CC Salsa & Ballroom Students Host Latin Dance Party Tucson

May 1, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm MST

free

Pima Community College (PCC) Salsa & Ballroom students of instructor Krystyna Parafinczuk are hosting a Latin Dance Party and you are invited. It will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 7-9 pm, on the West Campus outdoor basketball courts adjacent to the Fitness Sports Science Center. Celebrate Cinqo de Mayo, semester-end, and year-end!

There will be a ZUMBA warm-up, a beginning dance lesson assisted by the students and open dancing to a variety of Latin dance styles: salsa, rumba, cumbia, bachata, merengue and cha cha cha. In addition, the Ritmos Latinos Dance Club (University of Arizona) will perform Rueda de Casino and a beginner’s circle will be called. Rueda de Casino is performed in a circle with a ‘caller,’ similar to contra dance, to Latin music. It is a dance style originating in Cuba, and now danced all around the world. The footwork is similar to Salsa, utilizing a triple-step, with interesting patterns and a continual changing of partners.

Pot Luck! Refreshments and snacks will be served.

Free.
