Presenting a visual treat, ‘Tides of India’ will be spiced up with intermittent performing arts, creating ripple of cultures and art forms of India in the western world. This project is endorsed and partly funded by the City of Tempe.

Swarna Sitaraman and Shariwa Oke as visual artists collaborate with classical dance teachers Shyla Ganesan ( Bharatanatyam / Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society) and Rachna Nath (Odissi) and their student Vaishalini Sitaraman to shed light on the mundane aspects of various icons of the culture that brings about a deeper understanding and appreciation of India’s vast ancient knowledge and multitude of art forms.

Coming together for this project, the women involved are threaded together by the fiber of art and a common goal of furthering
cultural awareness in the society. The community will be able to experience the tangible art forms in close quarters, furthering its knowledge of another rich heritage of our Mother Earth, as Tides of India washes ashore just a few titbits from all the way across the globe.
