“Spring in Paris” Theme
Printable 2016 TUCSON TANGO FESTIVAL SCHEDULE
Sessions begin on Thursday, 6:30 pm, with instructors Homer & Christina teaching a Progressive Series for all levels “Finding our partner’s axis in Tango,” and Santiago & Fernanda teaching Sensual Tango for all levels “Essentials of experiencing and creating sensuality in Tango — how to make the dance feel good to you and your partner.” At 8 pm DJ Derrick Del Pilar will start the MILONGA with a “Welcome” at 11 pm and Group Instructor Performance. It will run until 1 am.
Friday, 11 am, instructors Jennifer Bratt, Jay Abling and Carrie Field teach sessions for “followers,” “leaders,” and a special class – Getting Your Tango Legs (free to all) – to show you how to stretch your hips and legs to release tension and help you understand how your legs, pelvis and core work in Tango. At 12:30 pm, Homer & Christina return to teach “Four Corners of the Feet,” Brian & Yuliana teach an Intermediate Level of “Barridas,” and Jay Abling teaching a Beginner/Intermediate level of “A New Twist on the Basic Crusada.” Ney & Jennifer start the 2 pm session teaching an all levels “Embrace & Cadencia” Essential Technique class; Santiago & Fernanda return to continue the Sensual Tango theme (all levels); and Mike & Carrie teach Tango Circuitry (limited to 30, beginner/intermediate) — “The Sagittal Plane Loop.” At 3:30 pm Homer & Christina continue the “axis” theme, Santiago & Fernanda’s Sensual theme for the Intermediate level, and Brian & Yuliana “Changing Rhythm – adding syncopation to the typical” for the first 10 advanced students.
BEGINNER’S BOOTCAMP – SPECIAL (Sabino Room) – with Ney Melo, sponsored by Green Valley’s Beverly Tobiason and Chuck Soukos (Green Valley Argentine Tango Community). Local Instructors may invite their students to participate in this special opportunity allowing your students to learn the basics of Argentine Tango. Offer includes entrance to the last hour of the afternoon Milonga all three days. Friday-Saturday 5-6:30 pm, Sunday 3:30-5 pm.
MILONGA with DJ Paul Akmajian, 9 pm – 3 am.
Saturday, 11 am, instructors Jennifer Bratt, Jay Abling and Carrie Field return with follower/leader specialty classes. Carrie’s focus will be on core/foot “revival” — self-massage, stretching and mobility exercises and Sunday on spiral/embrace – coming off your back like giant wings — releasing the neck, shoulder and back.

with Instructor Performances 11- 11:15 PM
Sunday’s MILONGA will be with DJ Homer Ladas 3:30-6:30 pm and with DJ Ashvin from 8 pm – 1 am to close the festival.
