ZUZI! Dance presents its fall, biannual No Frills Dance Happenin’. A variety of performers throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona come to share fresh and innovative works from various stages of the creative process. The works range from serious to silly and some are presented here for the first time. This year features choreographers Vanessa Corona, Christine Peterson, Pablo Rodarte, Condanza, Evolve Dance West, Tucson Pole Fitness, Phoenix’s MAC & Co. and more.
“The ‘No Frills’ concert has come to serve two important purposes,” says ZUZI!’s Artistic and Executive Director, Nanette Robinson. “It has become a popular venue for showcasing youth performers, schools, and youth choreography and it continues to be venue for local choreographers to take creative risks with new work.” The show has been described as an open mic for dance and is a unique opportunity to perform in a relaxed setting. As the name suggests, there are no frills—no fancy lights, no fancy sets—just dancers, choreographers, and experimentation.
No Frills Dance Happenin’ will be presented on Friday, October 30th, 2015, highlighting both youth and adult choreographers and performers. The show starts at 7:30 PM in the ZUZI! Theater at the Historic Y at 738 N. 5th Avenue in Tucson. Tickets are $10.
