Class Descriptions
Monday – Classic Jazz technique styles of Matt Mattox and Luigi. A wonderful crossover class for modern dancers and jazz dancers who need solid technique (Bring jazz shoes, NO black soles please)
Tuesday – Video Jazz Dance: learn dance combinations from famous popular music videos (Bring jazz shoes, NO black soles please)
Wednesday – Modern Dance/Hip-Hop combination class. Emphasize upper body strength and and full body power. (Bring sneakers, NO black soles please)
Thursday – Inner Dance – connecting with your inner selves through motion. Find new, safe, and healthy ways to access your deep unconscious to unlock creativity, memory, healing, and joy. Perfect for dance therapists, choreographers, dancers, and spiritual seekers. A great preparation for contact improvisation.
Friday – Modern dance technique, based in principles found in Cunningham, Taylor and Limon technique, supported by the anatomical knowledge established in Pilates and yoga.

BIOS:
Billbob Brown is associate professor of Dance at UMass Amherst, and is the co-founder of Desert Dance Theatre, having directed the company from 1979-1988. He has created shows for the Utah Shakespearean Festival, and choreographed and performed in TV work and commercials for the Chicago Cubs, Molson Canadian Beer, Disney Studios, and ABC-TV. He has toured nationally with the Bill Evans Dance Company, and in New Mexico was director of of Buen Viaje Dancers, a group of people with disabilities. His Emmy-award winning video, “Opening Doors,” with Buen Viaje, has been seen on PBS stations across the country. He has performed and taught in Mexico, Switzerland, England, Japan, and throughout the United States.

Ann Sorvino is a graduate of the Juilliard School, former member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, and has performed professionally in New York City. She has been the director of the Dance Program at Stoneleigh-Burnham School for over 10 years. She also teaches at Greenfield Community College and has a performing group, the Sorvino Dance Project which has performed throughout New England, Martha’s Vineyard and Greece.
